Plymouth – Britain’s Ocean City

The sea is intrinsically woven into Plymouth’s heritage, development and identity.

As a doorway to the world for ocean discovery and exploration for over 400 years, Plymouth maintains an international reputation as a powerhouse for marine and maritime research, innovation, trade, education and leisure that sets it apart from other UK cities.

The culture, heritage and natural assets that Plymouth Sound has in abundance underpin its designation as the first UK National Marine Park, reinforcing the city’s growing reputation as a vibrant waterfront location to live, work and relax.

A natural laboratory
